James Monroe Iglehart to Play Louis Armstrong in A Wonderful World on ...
AND I THINK TO MYSELF!!! This season, Tony Award winner James Monroe Iglehart (Aladdin, Memphis, Hamilton, and last seen in Spamalot) is set to deliver another Broadway showstopping performance as will star as the great legendary ‘Louis Armstrong” in the new musical A Wonderful World this Fall.
Under the co-direction of Iglehart, plus Christopher Renshaw, and Broadway favorite Christina Sajous, the show will be SWINGIN’ it 8 times a week at the legendary Studio 54. Previews start October 16th, 2024 and will officially open November 11th, 2024.
Tickets are on sale now online. However tomorrow if you’re in the Times Square area, Iglehart will help kick off the opening of the show’s Box Office with a full scale New Orleans style parade with members of the cast and a New Orleans style jazz band at 10am. If will all start in Duffy Square before marching it’s way to Studio 54’s Box Office for a ribbon cutting ceremony.
WONDERFUL WORLD tells the story of New Orleans jazz singer and trumpeter Louis Armstrong’s rise to fame. You can expect many of his notable standards that made him an international name.
It previously played a world premiere out of town tryout in Chicago last year earning rave reviews.

James T. Lane (Broadway’s Chicago and A Chorus Line) alternating with Iglehart as “Louis Armstrong” at certain performances,
Darlesia Cearcy (Broadway’s recent revival of Once on this Island and last seen in How to Dance in Ohio) as “Lucille Wilson”,
Dionne Figgins (Memphis) as “Daisy Parker’,
Kim Exum (recently seen as “Nabalungi” in The Book of Mormon”) as “Alpha Smith”,
Jennie Harney-Fleming (Broadway’s recent revival of The Color Purple and last seen as “Angelica” in Hamilton) as “Lil Hardin”,
& a full toe tapping Ensemble!!!
