Julie Halston to receive Isabelle Stevenson Tony Awards this year

BREAKING NEWS: Broadway legend Julie Halston will be this year’s recipient for the Isabelle Stevenson Award at this year’s Tony Awards.
For those who may not know, the Isabelle Stevenson Award is a special lifetime achievement Award given every year during Broadway’s biggest night. It honors a member of the theatre community who has made a substantial contribution of volunteered time and effort on behalf of one or more humanitarian, social service or charitable organizations.
For Julie Halston (who appeared on Broadway in various shows including The Women, Hairspray, the 2003 revival of Gypsy, the recent Roundabout Theatre Company‘s revival of Anything Goes, You Can’t Take It With You, and last seen in Tootsie), the celebrated performer will be receiving it for her unbelievable dedication and advocacy in raising funding and awareness for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, an organization helping those battling this horrific lung disease for which there currently is no known cure.

The 74th Annual Tony Awards is just 60 DAYS AWAY!! It will be happening on September 26th, 2021 on both CBS and Paramount+. However, this year’s ceremony is going to be done a little bit different as a 2 PART event. It goes like this…..
The celebration will kick off at 7pm EST with a 2 HOUR traditional presentation of the Awards (presented by The Broadway League and American Theatre Wing) streamed only on Paramount+.
From there at 9pm EST, CBS will air a full 2 HOUR Live Concert entitled THE TONY AWARDS PRESENTS: BROADWAY’S BACK. It will include performances from this year’s 3 nominated shows for BEST MUSICAL (consisting of Jagged Little Pill, Moulin Rouge, and Tina), some of Broadway’s longest running hits, and more. From there, it will announce Tony winning shows nominated for BEST REVIVAL OF A PLAY, BEST PLAY, and of course BEST MUSICAL.

PASS OVER becomes first Broadway show to open in 17 months starting week; First performance to include Post-Show Block Party

BREAKING NEWS: Next week marks a history making event as Lincoln Center Theater / LCT3‘s critically acclaimed production of Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu’s Pass Over becomes the first ON Broadway show to open in 17 months. With this exciting time, it calls for a celebration!!!!
Following next week’s first preview performance, PASS OVER will be hosting a post-show BLOCK PARTY outside the show’s home at the August Wilson Theatre. West 52nd Street between 8th Avenue and Broadway will be shutdown from 8pm-11am. The party is FREE!!! As soon as the 90 minute play performance, Theatergoers and fans will get to party it up with the company. There will be Live Music by S.N.O.B. (DJ Duggz, DJ Ari Grooves and Emily McGill). In addition, it will also have special to-go menus for purchase from the block’s vendors including Haswell Green’s, Victor’s Cafe, and the M Social Hotel.
PASS OVER begins previews next Wednesday, August 4th, 2021 at the August Wilson Theatre. The official Opening Night is set for September 20th, 2021 and will run through October 10th, 2021.

Today marks 60 DAYS till The 74th Annual Tony Awards!! We at New York Broadway Tours are so happy to once again be keeping you entertained each morning playing our favorite previous telecast performances with our TOP 50 TONY AWARDS COUNTDOWN extravaganza!!!

Every morning beginning August 7th, 2021 (marking the 50 days till the Tonys), we will be sharing with you our favorite showstopping performances from Broadway’s biggest night of the year from previous telecasts. Many of your favorite Tony winning and nominated productions. Get ready to sing along, share your reactions, and excitement. We also will be giving some fun facts about the history of many of these unforgettable Musicals we all love.

THE NOTEBOOK Musical heading for Broadway; World Premiere tryout in Chicago starting Spring 2022

Broadway-Bound THE NOTEBOOK Musical Announces March 2022 World Premiere at Chicago Shakespeare Theater
BREAKING NEWS: The highly anticipated musical adaptation of the best-selling novel The Notebook is officially heading for Broadway!!! But first, it will have a WORLD PREMIERE Pre-Broadway tryout in the Windy City of Chicago beginning Spring 2022. It’s set to debut at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater from March 15th-April 24th, 2022.
As previously mentioned 2 years ago, THE NOTEBOOK musical will feature an original score by Award winning singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson (marking her Broadway composer debut after previously acting in Natasha, Pierre, and The Great Comet of 1812). It will also have a book by This Is Us writer Bekah Brunstetter
The production will be co-directed by….
Tony Award nominee Michael Greif (Broadway’s Dear Evan Hansen, If/Then, Next to Normal and Rent)
and
Schele Williams (previously performed on Broadway in Motown along with appearing in the original cast of Aida which set is set to direct an upcoming highly anticipated revival of that show).
It will also feature musical direction by Carmel Dean (If/Then and American Idiot)
and
choreography by Katie Spelman (Off Broadway’s Joan of Arc).
THE NOTEBOOK tells the romantic story of a poor young man and a wealthy young woman who fall in love but are separate due to their differences in the 1940’s during World War II. The novel was released in 1996 becoming a best-seller. It also became success as an acclaimed film released in 2004 starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling.

FIRST LOOK: Live Theater is back overseas in slow & steady approach. One of the talked about productions that just opened a few days ago was the London revival of the Roundabout Theatre Company‘s Award winning production of Cole Porter’s madcap musical classic Anything Goes (starring Sutton Foster making her West End debut reprising her 2nd Tony winning performance as “Reno Sweeney”).
To get us back into that live theater vibe, our hearts are TAPPING with excitement as we share with you b-roll footage of Foster and this new London cast in action. From the stage of the Barbican Theatre, get ready for 2 promising showstopping performances of the show’s title song and the classic YOU’RE THE TOP.
This new London revival of ANYTHING GOES is set to run for a strictly limited engagement at the Barbican Theatre through October 17th, 2021 at the Barbican Theatre.

ROYAL NEWS: The Olivier Award nominated smash hit GIRL POWER musical SIX is preparing to relaunch its Broadway run this Fall. We are so happy to announce that the production’s original American QUEENS are all set to return. Under the co-direction of Lucy Moss and Jamie Armitage, the cast will consist of……
Adrianna Hicks as “Catherine of Aragon”,
Andrea Macasaet as “Anne Boleyn”,
Abby Mueller as “Jane Seymour”,
Brittney Mack as “Anna of Cleves”,
Samantha Pauly as “Katherine Howard”,
and
Anna Uzele as “Catherine Paar”.
The cast will include its 3 original alternate QUEENS themselves consisting of….
Nicole Kyoung-Mi Lambert,
Courtney Mack,
and
Mallory Maedke.
THAT’S NOT ALL: The Broadway company added one more additional thrown-in ALTERNATE QUEEN joining just in time for the show’s return….. The company will welcome newcomer Keirsten Hodgens.
At the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, SIX originally completed all of its initial previews on Broadway. It was slated to open on March 12th, 2020 which the plugged was pulled on it due to that very same day Live Theater went abruptly shutdown. However, the wait is almost over.
Get ready to GET DOWN with the EX-WIVES of King Henry VIII as SIX returns to Broadway’s Brooks Atkinson Theatre this Fall. The show will play a brief additional set of preview performances beginning September 17th, 2021 and will FINALLY have its long awaited Broadway Opening Night on October 3rd, 2021.
