GIVE YOU ONE GUESS for who is about to take us down EASY STREET!! 6 time Emmy Award nominee and Broadway favorite Tituss Burgess (Broadway’s Good Vibrations, The Little Mermaid, and Guys and Dolls along with TV’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) has been tapped to join the cast of NBC‘s upcoming Annie Live this holiday season. The versatile stage and screen star will take on the role of the sleazy, jail-breaking, and cruel “Daniel “Rooster” Hannigan”, (a.k.a. the brother of “Miss Agatha Hannigan”).
Burgess steps into the shoes of so many unforgettable talents that have taken on the role of this trouble making con-artist both on stage and screen. The role was originated on Broadway by Robert Fitch. It has later been played by incredible talents such as Kenneth Nelson, the late Gary Beach, Jim Ryan, Clarke Thorell, Tim Curry (in the 1982 film), Alan Cumming (in the 1999 TV movie), and more.
Burgess joins a previously announced all-star lineup consisting of…
Olivier Award nominee and Pop star Nicole Scherzinger as “Grace Ferrell”,
Grammy and Emmy winner and Tony nominee Harry Connick Jr as billionaire “Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks”,
and
Oscar and Emmy nominee Taraji P. Henson as the cruel “Miss Hannigan” herself.
Currently, an open casting call tour has been going on virtually to seek a rising new star to play the titular role in this live TV production.
Additional casting will be announced soon.
Rehearsals for the new live production begin this Fall 2021.
Annie Live is set for December 2nd, 2021 on NBC. It promises to show the world that THE SUN WILL COME OUT TOMORROW. It’s going to be the ultimate celebration of the return of Live Musicals with everything making its way back to normal.
