Happy 90th Birthday to one of Broadway’s most legendary houses…. the St. James Theatre. Originally as the Erlanger, the theater opened with a production of Merry Malones. What makes this 1,710 seat house well known is some of the most beloved iconic shows ever written for the stage was performed there.

The most famous shows ever to play there were the original productions of some of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s most legendary shows in their original productions including Oklahoma and The King and I the Musical.

Other highlighted shows including Hello, Dolly on Broadway (with Ms. Carol Channing), The Pajama Game, Lil’ Abner, On the 20th Century, Barnum (starring Jim Dale), My One and Only (starring Tommy Tune), The Who’s Tommy, The Secret Garden, The Producers, 2 revivals of Gypsy (both with Tyne Daly and later Patti LuPone (yup the production she flipped out at an audience member for taking flashed photographs), Green Day’s American Idiot The Musical, BRING IT ON THE MUSICAL, a revival of Side Show on Broadway, Something Rotten The Musical, and recently Present Laughter.

The St. James Theatre is currently going under a huge renovation as it’s set to gear up Disney’s Frozen on Broadway next year. Previews will begin on February 22nd, 2018 and Opening Night set for March 22nd, 2018.
