BREAKING NEWS: THE EIGHTH WONDER OF THE WORLD is finally hitting the Big Apple for real!!! The highly anticipated musical adaptation of King Kong officially set it’s performance start dates when it finally hits Broadway Fall 2018.

King Kong on Broadway will begin preview performances on October 5th, 2017 and Opening Night set for November 8th, 2017 at the Broadway Theatre (currently home of Miss Saigon US till January 2018 and the limited engagement Broadway concert ROCKOTOPIA this Spring 2018).

The story is set in NYC in the 1930’s where we meet an overly ambitious movie producer, his cast and full crew as they travel to the mysterious Skull Island to make a movie. On the Island, they encounter a gigantic ape who falls in love with the movie’s leading lady and eventually gets captured and taken back to the Big Apple as a huge attraction.

The show as previously mentioned will be an entire new production directed by Drew McOnie, a new book by Jack Thorne (Playwright of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child NYC hitting Broadway Spring 2018), a score by Marius de Vries (who has been with the show from the start), scenic design by Peter England, costume design by Roger Kirk, lighting design by Peter Mumford and sound design by Peter Hylenski. Gavin Robins is the aerial and movement director, and creature designer by Sonny Tilders.

KING KONG: THE MUSICAL originally premiered in Australia back in 2013 with mixed reviews. The staging got an incredible positive response. It was originally was slated to hit Broadway in 2014 at the Lyric Theatre (when it was the Foxwoods Theatre after Spider-Man On Broadway closed) but has been delayed due to trouble with revamping the book and changing of the creative team.
