Emmy winner Sean Hayes and Tony and Emmy winner Kristin Chenoweth (who previously appeared in the 2010 Broadway revival of Promises, Promises) are set to reunite in NBC’s upcoming televised presentation of Hairspray Live on December 7th. Not only they are playing roles, they will be hosting a HALF-HOUR preshow special before the live telecast begins entitled COUNTDOWN TO HAIRSPRAY LIVE. It will take you behind the scenes and into the final preparations of NBC’s 4th live televised musical before 8pm.
In the actual live telecast, Hayes will play Mr. Pinky, the Hefty Hide-a-Way fashion shop owner and Chenoweth will play the musical’s antagonist Velma Von Tussle, the snotty and racist producer of The Corny Collins Show and mother of Amber Von Tussle, who both try to take the musical’s beloved hero Tracy Turnblad down.
REMINDER: HAIRSPRAY LIVE is set for December 7th. Preshow (hosted by Hayes and Chenoweth) at 7:30pm and the curtain goes up at 8pm.
