ON THE MARQUEE: WE CAN SEE IT indeed, as the legendary longest running musical The Fantasticks heads back to the Big Apple this Fall. We are so ready for MUCH MORE as this timeless Off Broadway masterpiece will be making its way ON Broadway for the very first time. To get us in the mood, check out the newly updated front of house billboards outside the show’s soon-to-be home at Second Stage at the Hayes Theatre.

Under the direction of Tony winner Christopher Gattelli, this new production of THE FANTASTICKS will feature a newly revised gender-swapped score and book updated by the show’s legendary creator Tom Jones. We’re talking the Next Door Neighboring Friends, formerly Fathers, are now Mothers. The boy “Matt” is gay and now falls for another boy “Lewis”, in place of the formerly known “Luisa”, the girl. The story is still the same.

This new revival of THE FANTASTICKS will begin previews October 22nd, 2026, Opening Night is set for November 16th, 2026, and will run for a limited 15 WEEKS till February 7th, 2027.
