THRILLFYING NEWS: PBS is set to air a brand new live concert special paying tribute to the music of one of Broadway’s BEWITCHING hottest tickets….. WICKED next month. Produced by Nouveau Productions, WICKED IN CONCERT: A MUSICAL CELEBRATION OF THE ICONIC BROADWAY SCORE will officially air on August 29th, 2021 at 9pm EST.
Directed by Broadway legend Baayork Lee (original A Chorus Line), WICKED IN CONCERT will feature all new re-imagined arrangements of Stephen Schwartz‘s beloved Tony nominated and Grammy winning score. It will feature an all-star cast from the worlds of Theater, Film, TV, and Music. Shot in Los Angeles, Washington DC, and NYC, you can expect WONDERFUL new rendition of THE WIZARD AND I, POPULAR, NO GOOD DEED, AS LONG AS YOU’RE MINE, FOR GOOD, and of course the musical’s signature anthem DEFYING GRAVITY.
This is part of an exciting celebration as the long running BEWTICHING smash hit returns this Fall and just in time for its 18th Anniversary this October. The Broadway production will reopen at the Gershwin Theatre on September 14th, 2021. The ongoing National Tour relaunches on August 3rd, 2021 before continuing to travel across North America, and the West End company reopens at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre on September 15th, 2021.
This is only the 2nd major televised concert celebrating the music of WICKED. The previous concert A VERY WICKED HALLOWEEN happened in 2018 commemorating the show’s 15th Anniversary and aired on NBC.
