HOSANNA!! Announcing the Ensemble, full, and final casting of NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar Live. From what we know, the Ensemble is expecting to feature a full all-star lineup of some of your favorite Broadway performers.
This live televised production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s legendary rock opera will be coming to you live and on the air from the Marcy Armory in Brooklyn on April 1st, 2018.

HOSSANNA! More casting has been announced for NBC’s upcoming live televised production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Joining the previously announced Grammy winner John Legend as the title role, Tony and Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles as “Mary Magdalene”, and rock legend Alice Cooper as “King Herod” in this new live concert production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s legendary rock opera will include….
Tony Award nominee Brandon Victor Dixon (Broadway’s Motown the Musical, Shuffle Along on Broadway, and last seen as “Aaron Burr” in Hamilton: An American Musical) will take on the role of the head apostle “Judas” (known to kiss and betray the title character),
Tony Award nominee and Olivier Award winner Ben Daniels as the governor of Judea himself “Pontius Pilate”,
Tony Award nominee Norm Lewis (The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess on Broadway, Les Miserables – Musical, Broadway’s first African American actor to play the title role in The Phantom of the Opera, and currently in the revival of Once On This Island Broadway) as the head evil high priest “Caiaphas”,
Jason Tam (last seen on Broadway in If/Then Musical) as apostle “Peter”,
Jin Ha (Broadway’s Hamilton: An American Musical and last seen in the revival of M. Butterfly) as the wicked priest “Annas”,
and acclaimed Swedish rock singer Erik Gr?nwall as apostle “Simon Zealotes”.
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR LIVE will be filmed live at the Marcy Armory in Brooklyn. Tune in to NBC on April 1st, 2018.

WHAT’S THE BUZZ?: Grammy and Tony nominated singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles has been tapped to star in NBC’s upcoming live Spring Musical concert presentation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar as “Mary Magdalene” which she will sing the musical’s signature song I DON’T KNOW HOW TO LOVE HIM.
The Waitress the Musical composer and soon to be returning leading lady joins the previously announced Grammy winner John Legend as the title role and legendary rock star Alice Cooper as “King Herrod”.
Additional casting will be announced soon.
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR will be NBC’s 5th live televised musical and their first live production airing in the spring. It’s set to go live on the air on April 1st, 2018 (Easter Psalm Sunday). This live concert production will be filmed in front of large audience at the Marcy Armory in Brooklyn.

HOSANNA!! Grammy Award winner John Legend has been tapped to star in the title role for NBC’s upcoming live televised production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s beloved rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar this Spring 2018.
Legend joins the previously announced legendary rock star Alice Cooper as “King Herrod”. Additional casting will be announced soon.
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR will be NBC’s 5th live televised musical and their first live production airing in the spring. It’s set to go live on the air on April 1st, 2018 (Easter Psalm Sunday).
In addition, it was also announced that the production will be filmed as a live concert in front of large audience at the Marcy Armory which is located in Williamsburg (right in Brooklyn).
