Brian d’Arcy James and Corey Stoll Join Cast of WEST SIDE STORY Film

CALL THE POLICE. It has just been announced that Golden Globe nominee Corey Stoll and Tony nominated performer Brian d'Arcy James (currently back on the Great White Way in The Ferryman on Broadway) are keeping their eyes on several delinquents on the streets of New York as they have been cast in Steven Speilberg's highly anticipated movie musical remake of the legendary West Side Story.

Stoll will take on the role of the racist officer of all time…. "Lieutenant Schrank"

and James will play his right hand man and the neighborhood cop that the delinquents are always singing, making excuses to, and taunting 24/7….. "Officer Krupke".

Stoll and James will join the previously announced…

Golden Globe nominee Ansel Elgort as "Tony"

newcomer 17-year-old Rachel Zegler as "Maria",

Tony winner David Alvarez as "Bernardo"

and Tony nominee Ariana DeBose as "Anita".

The new film remake of WEST SIDE STORY is set to be released in 2020 from 20th Century Fox and Dreamworks. Filming begins this Summer 2019.

A MESSAGE FROM THE KING. Tony nominee Brian D’Arcy James is in rehearsals for returning to Hamilton: An American Musical as “King George”, a role he originated in the show’s Off-Broadway run at the The Public Theater. He left halfway to join the cast of Something Rotten The Musical

For those who have seen the show, HAMILTON’s pre-show announcement is pre-recorded by the actor who plays “King George”. Check out this video of James his version of the opening speech that is played at the top of the show.

James will join the Broadway company this week on the same day Tony winner James Monroe Iglehart joins as the new “Marquis De Laffayette” / “Thomas Jefferson”.
