BREAKING NEWS: With COVID-19 and Delta Variant cases still rising, extreme safety precautions have been put for everyone’s health and safety with Broadway’s return. According to a team discussion with
Actors’ Equity Association and
The Broadway League, ALL 41 BROADWAY THEATERS will have to deal with the following protocols….
1. Showing proof that you’re FULLY VACCINATED either with an FDA or WHO authorized COVID-19 vaccine in order to attend a show.
2. Wearing a face mask for the entire duration of the show. You only take it off if you are eating or drinking in your seat.
This applies to performers, crew members, musicians, creative team members, ushers, and audience members. It’s for everyone’s safety and health!!
There are a few exceptions for those who can’t take the vaccines. For young children under the age of 12 and people with a medical condition or closely held religious belief that prevents vaccination – required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance start time, or a negative COVID-19 antigen test taken within 6 hours of the performance start time.
The other big change that sadly will NOT be happening temporary when Broadway returns is the popular post-show STAGE DOOR where fans can get their playbills, photos taken, and meet members of the cast. Please remember this is for the company’s safety and making sure no one gets sick. Most importantly, ACTORS ARE PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND ME!!! No ranting and calling them DIVAS for abandoning the fans.
Theatre owners and operators will begin notifying ticket holders for performances through October 31, 2021, with reminder messaging planned to ensure awareness of the new policies. For performances starting November 2021 and beyond, theatre owners anticipate a review of policies in September, and may include a relaxation of certain provisions if the science dictates.
