The hottest ticket on Broadway is taking fans on a journey WAY DOWN UNDER THE GROUND. As we previously mentioned, many of this year's smash hit shows that took home glory at this year's Tony Awards came back to work with an overwhelming response from the audience. Another amazing reception from the audience came at last night at the performance of this year's 8 time Tony winning BEST MUSICAL….Hadestown.
As the cast all took their first entrance, the sold out crowd at Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre immediately erupted into a thunderous standing ovation before the start of the opening song. Later on at the curtain call, the cast welcomed its creative team (including its now Tony winning director Rachel Chavkin and its Tony winning composer Anais Mitchell) to join them on stage in the show's curtain call drinking encore song I RAISE MY CUP.
Congrats Hadestown. One of the most well deserved shows of the season. We at New York Broadway Tours RAISE OUR CUP to all you.
After the performance of Hadestown last night, June 11, the show's cast and creative team hosted a special curtain call where they raised a glass and celebrated their eight Tony wins!

DID YOU KNOW?: Before wowing audiences with her now Award winning portrayal of the iconic "Star Cher" in the smash hit The Cher Show, Tony winner Stephanie J. Block began her professional career performing in the Entertainment as Disneyland. She's played everyone from "Fifer The Pig" to a Glockenspiel player in all the parades, and most importantly a Disney Princess.
During her time working at Disneyland at just 19 years old, Stephanie portrayed the role of "Belle" in the park's stage production of Beauty and the Beast at the Fantasyland Theater that ran from 1992-1995. This production also served as a development platform for when the Broadway show version was created. In addition, Block mentioned during her PBS concert special that she was in that final callback for originating the role of "Belle" on Broadway. However, the casting director said she was TOO GREEN. The role would then be given to Susan Egan who received a 1994 Tony nomination for her performance.
Check out the 2 part video below of her playing the beloved, smart, and intelligent bookworm princess back in 1992?
