RISE AND SHINE BROADWAY FANS. Are you guys ready for some more show tunes from the past 70 years in our Top 30 Tony Awards?countdown? Well here we go. Broadway’s biggest night is only 5 days away.

At #5 on our countdown is a very bewitching musical. If you think you know about the Good Witch and the Bad Witch from The Wizard of Oz, think again. There’s more to the story than what you think. We of course are talking about Stephen Schwartz‘s smash hit blockbuster WICKED The Musical. It was also co-written by Winnie Holzman.

From the 2004 telecast, Tony winning Broadway powerhouses Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel (in their breakout roles of Glinda and Elphaba) perform the show’s signature Act 1 Finale anthem DEFYING GRAVITY.

WICKED originally premiered in San Fransisco before flying into Broadway’s Gershwin Theatre where it continues to enchant sold out houses every night. The show has been nominated for over 15 major awards including for 10 Tony Awards in 2004 winning 3 including Best Performance By A Leading Actress in A Musical (for Idina Menzel). WICKED is currently the 10th Longest Running Show in Broadway surpassing RENT (another popular musical featuring Menzel) and will later surpass MAMMA MIA as the 9th Longest Running Show coming up. It has played way over 5,400 performances so far.

Isn’t this musical still high flying and spectacular?
