BREAKING NEWS: Tony Award winner Victoria Clark (Broadway’s The Light in the Piazza, Cinderella the Musical, and last seen in GIGI on Broadway) is gearing up for her next Broadway show Sousatzka the Musical. The show officially began it’s World premiere previews in Toronto last night. It’s expecting to run till April 9th at the Elgin Theatre in Toronto.
The new musical is written by Tony Award winner Richard Maltby Jr., (Lyrics), Oscar winner David Shire (Music), and 3 time Tony nominee Craig Lucas (Book).
In addition to Clark, the cast also features Tony nominee Montego Glover (Broadway’s Memphis The Musical, It Shoulda Been You on Broadway, and recently in the revival of Les Mis?rables Broadway), 2 time Tony winner Judy Kaye (Broadway’s The Phantom of the Opera, Nice Work If You Can Get It, and recently in WICKED The Musical), and newcomer Jordan Barrow
SOUSATZKA tells the story a young musical prodigy torn between two powerful women from vastly different worlds: his mother, a political refugee, and his piano teacher, a brilliant eccentric with a dark past.
No word has been made when the Broadway run will officially happen.
