Jennifer Simard to Join Company of Mean Girls; Kerry Butler Sets Final Performance Date

BREAKING NEWS: There’s a new COOL MOM who is also a PUSHER! Tony Award nominee Jennifer Simard (Disaster – On Broadway and last seen in the Tony winning revival of Hello, Dolly on Broadway) is set to join the cast of Mean Girls on Broadway beginning September 11th, 2018 at the August Wilson Theatre. She will take on the triple roles of “Mrs. Heron”, “Ms. Norbury”, and “Mrs. George”.

Original cast member Tony nominee Kerry Butler is set to take her final bow on September 9th, 2018. Rumors are also already spreading at the same time that possibly Butler is departing to gear up for her next big role… “Barbara Maitland” in the upcoming Broadway bound world premiere musical adaptation of Beetlejuice (which she previously did some of the early readings and workshops for). Fingers are crossed

Kinky Boots announces West End closing date

CLOSING UP SHOP: The West End company of Kinky Boots The Musical is set to end its 3 year run. The Tony and Olivier Award winning Cyndi Lauper will close at London’s Adelphi Theatre on January 12th, 2019.

Even though the show is closing in London, you will still be able to take a trip to THE LAND OF LOLA in New York at Broadway’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre and an all new UK Tour set to launch this Fall 2018.

Happy Birthday, Harold Prince! Prince of Broadway Cast Album Gets a Release Date

We at New York Broadway Tours want to wish Hal Prince a Happy 90th Birthday. And that’s not all, it has just been announced that the Original Cast Recording of Hal’s recent Broadway musical revue PRINCE OF BROADWAY (which kicked off the 2017-2018 Broadway season at Manhattan Theatre Club for a limited run) is set for a April 20th, 2018 release from Ghostlight Records. Plus, we got a first look of the album cover.

PRINCE OF BROADWAY was a musical revue recreating scenes from 17 of Hal Prince’s legendary musicals that he has both directed and produced earning him a record breaking 21 Tony Awards including The Pajama Game, Damn Yankees, West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret the Musical, Company, Evita – The Musical, Sweeney Todd NYC, The Phantom of the Opera (which is still running and just celebrated it’s 30th Anniversary last week), and much more. The musical also features some new original material by Tony winner Jason Robert Brown.

Janet Decal (Broadway’s In The Heights, Wonderland the Musical),

Date Announced for the 2018 Drama Desk Awards

BREAKING NEWS: The 63rd Annual Drama Desk Awards (sponsored by TheaterMania) have been officially set for June 3rd, 2018 at The Town Hall.

The revealing of the nominations are set for April 26th, 2018 with time, location, and presenters to be announced at a later date.

The Drama Desk Awards are considered as the Golden Globes for Theatre honoring the best of Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off Broadway artists. They are voted for each year by theater critics, journalists, editors, and publishers that cover New York theater news.

No additional words have been made as well as who will be hosting and/or presenting at this year’s ceremony.

Noah Galvin’s EVAN HANSEN Departure Date Announced; Taylor Trensch To Assume Role 2/6

BREAKING NEWS: Taylor Trensch’s start date as the new star of this year’s Tony winning smash hit Dear Evan Hansen has officially confirmed. The Broadway favorite will begin donning the striped polo and arm cast at the Music Box Theatre beginning February 6th, 2018.

The show’s current leading man The Real O’Neals star Noah Galvin will end his strictly limited engagement with the Pasek and Paul musical on February 4th, 2018.

Trench is currently starring in this year’s Tony winning revival of Hello, Dolly on Broadway which he is set to take his final bow with original stars Tony winners The Divine Bette Midler and David Hyde Pierce on January 14th, 2018 at the Shubert Theatre. Taking over for Trench in HELLO, DOLLY as “Barnaby Tucker” will be West End star Charlie Stemp who is joining alongside Tony winner Bernadette Peters and Tony nominee Victor Garber starting January 20th, 2018.

With Trench joining as the title role in DEAR EVAN HANSEN, he will join the lineup of the show’s current original stars. As previously announced, Tony winner Rachel Bay Jones (“Heidi Hansen”), Glee favorite Laura Dreyfuss (“Zoe Murphy”), Tony nominees Mike Faist (“Connor Murphy”) and Jennifer Laura Thompson (“Cynthia Murphy”) along with Michael Parks (“Larry Murphy”), and Will Roland (“Jared Kleinman”) are all set to depart the show May 2018. Kristolyn Lloyd (“Alana Beck”) is set to depart in February 2018.
