BREAKING NEWS: THE COMET IS COMING NEAR YOU!! International productions of the smash hit Natasha, Pierre, and The Great Comet of 1812 (the pop electro Opera retelling of a 70 page chapter from WAR & PEACE) are all in the works. As previously announced, the show will make it’s premiere in Japan in 2019.

Other companies that have just been announced include London, China, the Philippines, and a few sit down companies set to open in the US.

Following 2 sold out Off Broadway runs at Ars Nova and in the Kazino pop-up Theatre as well as a regional engagement at American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, MA, THE GREAT COMET arrived on Broadway 1 year ago playing the Imperial Theatre starring acclaimed vocalist Josh Groban in his long awaited Broadway debut. The show went on to receive the most Tony Awards nominations winning only 2 technical awards. It closed after 368 performances total due to low ticket sales and a horrible casting controversy.

GOODBYE MY GYPSY LOVERS! Due to very upsetting low ticket sales and the horrific casting controversy, the Award winning smash hit Natasha, Pierre, and The Great Comet of 1812 is set to close on September 3rd, 2017 at the Imperial Theatre. Following it’s final bow at the Opera, the show will have played 32 previews and 336 regular performances

In addition, final casting announcements have been made for the lead role of “Pierre”.

Hamilton: An American Musical favorite Okieriete Onaodowan will continue with the role of ‘Pierre’ through this Sunday, August 13th, 2017.

From August 15th -20th, the role will be performed by the show’s standby and original “Pierre” from the American Repertory Theater production himself Scott Stangland.

From there from August 22nd, 2017 through the final performance, the show’s creator and original leading man from the Off Broadway run, Tony nominee dave malloy will play “Pierre”.

In addition, original cast member Brittain Ashford will return to the role of ‘Sonya’ for the performances August 15th, 2017 up till the final performance on September 3rd, 2017. Pop sensation Ingrid Michaelson who currently plays the roles departs on August 13th, 2017.

Mandy Patinkin Will Return to Broadway in Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812


BREAKING NEWS: For the first time in 5 years, Tony and Emmy winner Mandy Patinkin (original productions of Evita, Sunday in the Park with George Broadway, and Falsettos on Broadway) will return to Broadway as “Pierre” in the Award winning smash hit Natasha, Pierre, and The Great Comet of 1812 for a limited 3 week engagement from August 15th, 2017 through September 3rd, 2017 at the Imperial Theatre.

He will succeed the show’s current leading man Okieriete Onaodowan who will play his final performance on August 13th, 2017.

Patinkin last appeared on Broadway as himself alongside his former original “Evita” leading lady Tony winner Patti LuPone in a limited Broadway concert stint at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre entitled An Evening with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin back in 2012.
