STOMP relaunches Off Broadway run tomorrow!!!

Tomorrow, July 20th, 2021, New York City will once again hear the sounds of BROOMS. LIGHTERS, GARBAGE CANS, and more as the legendary Award winning Off Broadway smash hit Stomp reopens at the Orpheum Theatre for the first time in 16 months. The show also is one of the first major Off Broadway productions to reopen since Live Theater’s abrupt shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The very next day (Wednesday, July 21st, 2021) following their re-opening night, STOMP will appear on Good Morning America for the 8:30am half hour.
When the show reopens, the toe-tapping percussion troupe will feature….

However, since we are still coping with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic (and now with Delta Variant cases rising), there will be extreme safety precautions in place for the entire cast, crew, and your fellow audience members. It consists of the following….
showing proof you are FULLY vaccinated prior before entry into the Theater,
if you are between the ages of 5-11, you are required to take a COVID-19 test prior before attending a performance,
deep cleanings before and after every performance,
all audience members having to wear their face masks for the entire performance,
and more.

Off Broadway’s THE WOLVES to be streamed on Lincoln Center Theatre’s PRIVATE REELS series this Summer!!

BREAKING NEWS: Lincoln Center Theater is set to release another one of its incredible previous Award winning productions part of its all new PRIVATE REELS series. The next show set to be streamed will be Sarah DeLappe‘s critically acclaimed Soccer female empowerment play THE WOLVES.
Filmed from the stage of LCT’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, the play will be available to watch for a limited time on Broadway On Demand from July 22nd, 2021 through August 15th, 2021.
In case anyone may not know, THE WOLVES follows a group of young girls on an indoor youth soccer team in their pre-game ritual. This coming of age story follows the girls as they navigate big questions and wage tiny battles from the safety of their suburban stretch circle.
The play originally was developed through a workshop lab at the Playwrights Horizons Theater School and Clubbed Theatre back in 2015. It officially had its world premiere production Off Broadway in 2016 at the Duke on 42nd Street for a strictly limited Summer engagement. The original run was well received, the production played an encore run in the Duke that same year for the holiday season. The following year, it transferred to Lincoln Center Theater at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater.

THE WOLVES was well received by Theater critics and audiences. It went on to win the The American Playwriting Foundation‘s inaugural Relentless Award in 2015. It was a finalist in consideration to receive the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2017. It also received an Ensemble Award at the Obie Awards, a special Drama Desk Award for its acting ensemble, and was nominated for The Lucille Lortel and The Drama League Awards for BEST PLAY,

BREAKING NEWS: New York is bringing back its legendary sounds of the city including some of the hottest tickets part of our Theater scene. It has just been announced that the long running Award winning phenomenon Blue Man Group are set to once again bring their unique sound back to the Big Apple.
The long running toe-tapping smash hit will officially relaunch its run on September 3rd, 2021 at the Astor Place Theatre in the East Village. The show’s return comes at a very exciting time as BLUE MAN GROUP celebrates the 30th Anniversary of its debut this year!!

NEW YORK THEATRE WORKSHOP announced both 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 seasons of new shows

A few days ago, the acclaimed New York Theatre Workshop has officially announced its return to Live Theater performances It has revealed upcoming shows for BOTH its 2021-2022 and its 2022-2023 seasons. What an unforgettable lineup of exciting new original works set to make its debut of this unforgettable stage known for launching some of the hottest shows we know today.
The 2021-2022 season will kick off this August with the world premiere of Obie Award winner Whitney White’s filmed / theatrical experience SEMBLANCE. This unique experience centers on the perception of Black women, presented both virtually and as an immersive installation.
From there, other upcoming productions in the 2021-2022 season will include…..
the return of Pulitzer Prize winner’s Martyna Majok’s 2-person play SANCTUARY CITY. This production has rescheduled the launch of its run after being abruptly being shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic…. just 8 PREVIEWS. The play is now set to reopen this September. Under the direction of Rebecca Frecknall, it tells the tale of 2 teenage children of undocumented immigrants as they fight to establish a place for themselves in America.
Kristina Wong’s new original play A NEW PROJECT. This was a show that was created by Wong while being at home in Quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s expecting to debut this Fall as well. Under the direction of Chay Yew, its a powerful play all about building that connection with community even during isolation.
Obie Award winner Aleshea Harris’s new play ON SUGARLAND. This show will debut early in 2022. Directed by Whitney White, the play is a spiritual and inspirational experience that brings joyous life to communal healing,
and
the 2021-2022 season will conclude with the world premiere of Somi Kakoma’s new play DREAMING ZENZILE. That will debut in the Spring of 2022. Under the direction of Lileana Blain-Cruz, the play follows on the life of celebrated South African musical legend and activist Miriam Makeba.
The 2021-2022 season will also be a very bittersweet and emotional time for everyone at New York Theatre Workshop. It will mark as the final season for its longtime artistic director James C. Nicola who will retire after 34 YEARS. This Gentleman has overseen many of NYTW’s legendary productions that have gone on to become Award winning hot tickets ON Broadway including Rent. Once, Peter and the Starcatcher, Hadestown. and the upcoming Sing Street.
There’s so much more people! We are now talking about the show’s that will debut for the 2022-2023 season at New York Theatre Workshop.
The 2022-2023 season will kick off with Tony winner Sam Gold and Clare Barron’s new production of Anton Chekhov’s classic play THREE SISTERS. This production was set to debut in 2020. However, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown. No word has been said if the company from that initial run is set to continue. The play of course centers on Three Sisters discovering the ups and downs of life.
From there, the other shows of the 2022-2023 season will include….
Victor I. Cazares’s new play AMERICAN (TELE)VISIONS. Under the direction of RubĂ©n Polendo, the show takes place at a Wal-Mart. It’s a multimedia memory play about an undocumented Mexican family,
Liliana Padilla’s new play HOW TO DEFEND YOURSELF. This is a very powerful quadruple co-directed by Tony winner Rachel Chavkin along with Padilla & Steph Paul. It centers on a group of college students channeling their emotions through a self-defense class after a fellow student gets raped,
and finally
The 2022-2023 season will conclude with Inua Ellams’s new one man show THE HALF GOD OF RAINFALL. The play centers on the life of that is a hero, half Nigerian mortal, and half Greek god.

BREAKING NEWS: Due to recent low tickets, Blindness (the first major performing arts production and Off Broadway show to open since the COVID-19 pandemic started) will sadly end its limited engagement early. The visual production will play its final performance on July 25th, 2021 at the Daryl Roth Theatre. Who is sad?
